MARTINA MARIA KERNDL

America's Greatness

in memoriam Ida B. Wells, Frederick Douglass

If conscience were only half alive
If were only have christianized
A of horror, indignation and shame
Would rise to Heaven from whoever
Wells' pamphlets
Throughout this "Land of "
Civilization (?) collapses - name it democracy (?)
All these bestial of trade
Done in the of labor, God (?)
Is it humanity?
Awoken from the dream of
herded and together
A musical cannot cover it
God isn't - Good Lord, deity
Do I speak ly?
Racial terror dis us all
Let's slay the Hydra prejudice
At harvest tend to fail
"Turn our faces to the west."
What can we do?
"The gods help them who help themselves."
Let's laud ourselves in and
And fight the snur which we are of
Will we ever learn self-respect?
When name and love of our country
have to history and facts -
The s who owned it have been slaughtered
The s who worked the hardest lynched
It's hard to brag
